A tiny food with timeless power. đ°ïž
You open the fridge in the morning, thinking about what to eat. You see the usual suspects: some salami, butter, maybe a bit of liver pĂątĂ©, some veggiesâŠ
But somehow, you want to eat something warm.
And then your eyes land on the eggs.
Suddenly, a dozen ideas flash through your mind: fried eggs, scrambled, soft-boiled, sandwich spread, you name it.
But seriously... why do we always start with eggs?
đł A little history â breakfast eggs are nothing new
Eggs have been on breakfast tables a long time ago. Back in Victorian England, soft-boiled eggs with toast "soldiers" were already a thing. In American diners, two eggs with bacon became a staple breakfast in the 1930s and never left the menu.
During wartime, eggs were cheap, quick, and nutritious, making them a perfect everyday option. Fast forward to today, and those same qualities keep them at the top of every breakfast list.
đ„ Small but mighty â the egg is a nutrient bomb
Let's break it down (pun intended):
- Protein that keeps you full without weighing you down
- B vitamins to wake up your brain
- Vitamin D especially handy in gloomy months
- And basically, everything a tiny life form needs to exist
It's quick to cook (1â7 minutes max), and even if your fridge is empty, there's usually still an egg or two hanging in there. It's the undisputed survival food of the modern kitchen.
đ The egg paradox â it goes with everything⊠except microwaves
Here's the fun part:
- It fries, it boils, it scrambles, it poaches, it fluffs up
- Works in sweet and savory recipes
- And yes, it's usually budget-friendly
BUT... â ïž Put it in the microwave, and it's game over.
You'll either end up with rubber or an egg explosion.
So, even in the 21st-century high-tech kitchen, you will still need a simple frying pan or pot to make eggs for the best results.
đŠ Best of all? You donât have to be a chef.
You donât need a culinary degree to make an egg breakfast. All you need is:
a frying pan
a fork
a little confidence
and maybe a slice of bread
VoilĂ . In minutes, you can have fried eggs, quick scrambled eggs, or even good old-fashioned French toast. So, even in our high-tech 21st-century kitchens, the egg still prefers a simple pan or pot to do its best work.
đĄ The egg universe is just beginning...
If you've only done sunny-side-up until now, I've got good news: there's a whole world of eggy goodness out there. Think poached eggs, shakshuka, tamagoyaki, egg wraps, egg toast cups, or even fried rice with a golden yolk on topâŠ
And yes, I'll be sharing more of them right here on Prepmix. đ
