A Little Look Behind Prepmix
When you visit Prepmix, you mostly see the finished part – the recipes, the photos, the videos and, hopefully, something that makes you hungry. 😄
But there’s quite a lot happening behind all of that.
Every recipe starts somewhere. Sometimes it’s an idea we’ve been planning for days, and sometimes it’s simply a case of opening the fridge and thinking, “Right… what can we make with this?”
Some recipes turn out exactly as we imagined. Others definitely don’t. 😂
And cooking is actually only one part of Prepmix.
Behind the recipes, there’s the shopping, testing, filming, editing, writing, looking after the website, working on new ideas and trying to understand the mysterious worlds of YouTube, search engines, website traffic and online advertising.
And there isn’t a big team doing all of this.
Prepmix is run by just the two of us: me and my love. ❤️
Between us, we come up with the recipes, buy the ingredients, cook the food, film and edit the videos, work on the website and somehow try to keep everything else moving too. 😄
Some days everything works beautifully.
Other days, absolutely nothing wants to cooperate.
And, strangely enough, those are often the more interesting days.
So, what is Behind Prepmix?
We created Behind Prepmix as a place where we can share a little more of what happens on the other side of the recipes.
We don’t want this to be a collection of polished success stories where everything always goes according to plan. Because that certainly isn’t how it works around here. 😄
Instead, we want to share the experiments, the mistakes, the strange problems, the things we’re trying to figure out and, hopefully, plenty of little wins along the way too.
That might mean talking about what it’s really like trying to grow a small cooking channel on YouTube, something unusual happening with the website, a recipe experiment that went completely wrong, or one of those technical problems that starts with “this should only take five minutes” and somehow steals half the day. 😂
We’ll also share what we learn while trying to solve those problems.
We certainly don’t have all the answers. Sometimes finding the answer is going to be the whole story.
Why share all of this?
Because Prepmix is still growing, and we’re learning a lot as we go.
Usually, when something finally makes it onto the website or YouTube, you only see the finished version. You don’t see all the little decisions, experiments, failed attempts and occasional head-scratching that happened before it got there.
We thought it might be fun – and maybe even useful – to document some of that journey instead of only showing the finished result.
Maybe you’re building something of your own. Maybe you run a small website or YouTube channel. Maybe you’ve struggled with some of the same things we have.
Or maybe you’re simply curious about what happens behind Prepmix.
